Welcome Back to Westward Expansion

AFTER THIS WEEK'S TESTS AND MAPS ASSESSMENT (THURSDAY), THE STUDENTS WILL BEGIN READING RIDING FREEDOM. MORE NEWS TO COME REGARDING THIS STORY, CONTENT, AND SKILLS.

This year the students have learned how our country developed from a small group of colonies to organized states and territories. Now, the students will embark on the journey of westward expansion, as they discover topics such as Manifest Destiny, the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark expedition, the War of 1812, and so much more.

Our journey begins this week with the Louisiana Purchase. In conjunction with our social studies notes, we will read Sacagawea by Lise Erdrich along with newspaper articles and other text related to this unit of study. The Quizlet for this week's words are located under the Social Studies tab.

Check out the Lewis and Clark tab for fun activities!
